Hello, my name is Emma and I am raising funds for Jehad Hajjaj and his family of 8 in Gaza, Palestine.

The family lost their home in Gaza City in October 2023 when Israeli forces bombed their neighborhood. They have since been living in a tent in Deir al-Balah, in the middle area of the Strip.

Jehad is 20 years old and lives with his parents, three older brothers, and 7 and 8-year-old nephews. The nephews’ parents – Jehad’s brother and wife – were killed in October. The parents and one brother have preexisting medical conditions that have deteriorated due to the lack of healthcare and dire living conditions in displacement. His mother has spinal disc problems and osteoporosis, and his brother Abdullah (23) has had a rare liver disease since childhood. Salah, his 58-year-old father suffers from lung disease and needs to be evacuated to Egypt to receive urgent care.

While waiting for the Rafah crossing to reopen, the family seeks to move into an apartment after 7 months of living in a tent with no hygiene, privacy, or safety. The rent is 2500 NIS/month, equivalent to 675 USD.

Jehad has reached out to my partner Maho who speaks Arabic, and we have sent money for him to get food and medicine for the family. He is extremely humble and kind, always caring about us despite the unimaginable hardship he faces.

“We’ve already lost so much, I cannot bear to lose my father.” ― As Salah’s health condition worsens, we created this emergency fundraiser. The target amount of CHF 20,000 (approx. USD 22,000) will be used for: – Apartment rent $675 x 3 months = $2,025 – Evacuation fee $5,000 x 2ppl = $10,000 (for Salah and Jehad to accompany his father) – Medicine $500 x 3 months = $1,500 – Food $1,200 x 3 months = $3,600 – Transfer and money exchange fee = $4,875 (*due to lack of liquidity, money exchangers charge up to 30% commission)
